Nell Bednarz began as an artist in 1969, learning the basis of her art style from school art programs and her mother, Wilma Garnett O'Briant. As an adult, many artists have influenced her style, including Georgia O'Keefe, Gustav Klimpt, Yves Klein, Deborah L. Spiller, Jan Vermeer, Charles Ewing, and Albrecht Durer. Although she painted for many years in oils on canvas, life overseas and life-with-babies led her toward using non-toxic paints and drawing media.
This multi-faceted artist creates to remind the viewer of the Great Creator and His love for all that He has created. Her inspirational abstract paintings seek to draw us into the very heart of the Word, while her representational creations of nature-related themes -- native flora and fauna, portraits and landscapes -- draw us closer to our fellow creatures and our environment. She works in acrylics, pastels, drawing media, mixed media, assemblage, sculpture and photography.
Nell Bednarz' art is represented by the Holland Street Gallery; 14 N. Holland Street; Bellville, Texas, 99718; phone- 979-865-4278. She is founding director of
Katy Area Artists adult art league in Katy, Texas, as well as a member of Brazos Valley Art League in College Station.
